How to Use
Use Humalog Mix25 exactly as prescribed by your doctor or diabetes specialist. The dose is individualized according to blood-glucose levels, meal pattern, physical activity, and other medical factors.
Humalog Mix25 is administered by subcutaneous injection, generally within 15 minutes before a meal. Injection sites may include the abdomen, thigh, upper arm, or buttocks. Rotate injection sites to help reduce the risk of skin changes at injection sites.
Before each injection, follow the manufacturer's KwikPen instructions carefully and check the insulin label to make sure you are using the correct product. Do not use Humalog Mix25 intravenously or in an insulin pump. Do not share the KwikPen with another person, even if the needle has been changed.
Do not change your insulin dose or switch insulin products without medical guidance.
Safety Information
The most important safety risk with insulin is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which can be serious or life-threatening. Monitor blood glucose as recommended and follow your healthcare professional's instructions regarding meals, insulin doses, and physical activity.
Do not use Humalog Mix25 during an episode of hypoglycemia or if you have a known hypersensitivity to the product or its ingredients. Changes in insulin type, strength, manufacturer, injection site, or administration method should be made under close medical supervision with increased blood-glucose monitoring.
Tell your healthcare professional about all medicines you take, as some medicines can increase or decrease the blood-glucose-lowering effect of insulin. Alcohol and certain medicines may also affect blood-glucose control or mask symptoms of hypoglycemia.
Possible adverse effects include hypoglycemia, injection-site reactions, allergic reactions, and changes in the fatty tissue under the skin. Seek urgent medical attention for severe hypoglycemia, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or other signs of a serious allergic reaction.
Store the KwikPens according to the manufacturer's instructions and protect them from inappropriate temperatures and light. Check the packaging, batch number, expiry date, storage conditions, and product authenticity before use. Use only under the direction of a qualified healthcare professional.
